JP's Baptism

On December 13, JP was baptized. Dr. Thomas did the baptism and JP was quite well behaved...he even looked like he was listening to everything Dr. Thomas said! (By the way, we met with Dr. Thomas a few days before the baptism and after about 10 minutes in a room with Ruthie he asked if she was going to be up at the front of the church and then said he'd probably keep the little talk he does about baptism short...lol...she's a wild one!) We were so blessed to have so much of our family there. Both sets of grandparents were there along with Blake and Emily. This was the first time JP had met his Aunt Emily so now he's met all of his uncles, his aunt, and his soon to be aunt!

When we scheduled the baptism I thought that doing it at Christmas would be great because the church would be decorated so nicely. What I didn't consider however is that we would be standing right next to the candles! I was soooo worried the whole time that Ruthie would set the church on fire! At one point she sat down on the floor which was fine but then she reached for the tablecloth where the candles were to pull herself up...eek! Fortunately we will not be remembered as the people who burnt the sanctuary down :)
The girls have a dress that my mom made that they have all worn for their baptism but it's a bit frilly and has flower smocking so my mom was so wonderful and made JP a new gown. It is very simple and was exactly what I had in mind for him.

During the baptism they ask the church members to stand to pledge their support in helping raise the child. The older my children get the more this part of the baptism means to me. We are so blessed to be in a church that loves children and has such a wonderful children's ministry. Our children have been blessed with so many fabulous teachers and with so many church members who pray for them and love on them!
