Sunday Style Section

This was Emmie's sunday dress this week.  My mom smocked this and I love the fabric and the smocking!  Emmie was so cooperative (or at least for 30 seconds so I could snap the picture) so I actually have a really good picture!
How cute are these tights?  They came with a dress I bought her at Belk but they went perfectly with this dress.  I love that they look like they have shoes on them!

Emmie wore this again this week.  I love the outfit and it's nice because it's a long sleeve top and pants but it's actually pretty thin material so perfect for the "cold" weather in Columbia!  Also note the halloween socks from GG and Papa Coach!

We went to the zoo on Friday with Paul's mom and she fed the giraffe!  I thought that was Sunday Style Section worthy!

When I downloaded this picture to my computer I had to laugh.  I don't know what they were looking at but it was apparently quite shocking!  Also note Emmie's adorable Laura Ashley dress with some fabulous hot pink tights!
This is one of my favorite dresses that Emmie has.  This is what she wears on days she's feeling very "pink".  Pink tights (we had to wear white this week..the pink ones were dirty), pink dress, pink bow.

Boo at the Zoo

Yesterday Paul and I took Emmie to Boo at the Zoo.  We had so much fun and she seemed to really enjoy it and was so interested in everything.  We met up with my friend Michelle and her family and one of her friends.  I think all the kids had fun!
Emmie was not super happy about the lamb costume at first.  But then she decided it was fun being a lamb!

How cute are those ears?
Emmie and Michelle's little girl Megan.  She was an adorable little bumblebee.

I love this picture of Emmie in the "Boo at the Zoo" sign.

Sunday Style Section

I didn't get a great shot of this dress the day she had it on...this was the best I could do but I really love it.  It's a Pottery Barn Kids dress that to me just screams pottery barn!  It was cute when I bought it but it became 10x cuter when Christa monogrammed a red "E" on the front!

When we were in Greenville this week I had to go buy Emmie some warmer clothes (I failed to realize how cold it would be in the mornings and the first few days we were there it was a little chilly all day).  I bought her a cute brown and blue outfit but apparently didn't get a picture of it...I'll work on that this week!  This is one of the other outfits I bought and I think it's adorable.  You know I'm a sucker for bows and then it also has polka dots.  It doesn't get much better than the combo of bows and polka dots!

Emmie's style = tongue out of mouth :)  I thought htis picture was so "Emmie".  She ALWAYS has that tongue hanging out and has since she was born!

My mom made this dress that she wore to church this morning and I LOVE the fabric! (Please excuse the funkyness at the top of the picture. I have no clue what was going on with my camera but I couldn't get Emmie to hold still to take another picture of the front of the dress.)

This is a better picture of the fabric.  To me it looks like a little school outfit!

Tonight we went to Boo at the Zoo.  We had a lot of fun (I'll blog about it tomorrow and have some more pictures).  This is her little lamb costume.  I tried to get her to "baa" but she would only growl.  She's a growling lamb.  HaHa!  I was very impressed that she kept her hat on the ENTIRE TIME!  It didn't seem to bother her at all.

She's an escaping lamb...wagging her tail behind her! (Don't worry, I whipped out the hand sanitizer for her after taking this picture!)

What's more stylish than a Franklin!  I just love this picture that I took of him while we were in Greenville.  It's not often that he sits that still while he's outside!

Show Us Your Life

Every week on Kelly's blog she does Show Us Your Life Friday.  Right now she's doing a "house tour theme" and this week is the nursery/child's room!  Yay!  I've been waiting many weeks for this theme.  Not only do I love Emmie's room and love to show it off but I love to look at everyone else's nurseries.  I think they're so much fun and so cute!  A few years ago, before I started reading her blog, she did the "house tour" theme and my friend Amanda at work was showing me all the cute nurseries and that was my first exposure to Kelly's blog and now I'm hooked!
Emmie's bedding is the Kid's Line Ladybug and I really like it.  It's pink and green (yay Delta Zeta colors) so what's not to like!  When we were looking at bedding I found a sage green bedding that would have worked for a boy or a girl and I told Paul that we could paint the room pink so that it would be more girly.  WELL, that did NOT go over well!  HaHa!  His one caviat after that was that he didn't care too much about the bedding but he was NOT painting a room pink!  That was fine with me...it meant I got to pick out pretty pink girly bedding!  Actually though, Paul picked out her bedding.  We were at the store and everytime we walked by this bedding he would mention that he thought it was cute.  FINALLY, I picked up on the fact that he really liked the bedding so I stopped and really looked at it and also thought it was adorable!
This is the view of Emmie's room from the doorway (with the cute little munchkin front and center).  We got her furniture at Baby Furniture Plus and I really like all their furniture but I fell in love with this crib as soon as I saw it.  We got really lucky because they were discontinuing the line that the crib is part of and they only had a few left!
This is the view of the other side of the room from her doorway.

I love how big her chest is so that she can always use it.  That was one thing that was important to me when we were looking for furniture - that we would only have to buy her furniture once!  Right now I have her books on top of this dresser but I'd really like to find a bookshelf to put in her room.  I'm having trouble with that because there's not a lot of open wall space in her room.  We might just have to wait on the bookshelf until we move the chair out of her room.
(Franklin tried to get in the picture...sorry buddy!)
Her "big bear" that we got at the shower in Summerville.  I fell in love with it.  What kid doesn't yearn for a HUGE, soft stuffed animal?

I ordered this basked off of Amazon and my mom's friend Cindy monogrammed it with Emmie's name.  Right now we're keeping rattles and stuffed animals in there since it has a lid (which deters Franklin from eating the toys).
Here's a close-up of the letters over Emmie's crib.  I was so excited when i found the ribbon at  Michaels.  It's pink with red ladybugs and matches her nursery perfectly!  My mom and I have this joke that the stores know what we're looking for and they run and hide it...we can NEVER find what we're looking for so imagine my suprise when, on my first (and last) ribbon hunting outing, I came across this perfect ribbon!  I painted the letters white and my mom figured out how to get the ribbon to lay right and how to attatch the bows at the top.
You can see a little bit more of the crib detailing here.  Also Emmie's white noise machine (which was mine in college).  It is the best thing EVER!  I don't know what I would have done without it after I dropped her mobile in the garage and broke it.  Normally it sits on the windowsill but Emmie was playing with it right before I took this picture.  It took her all of 2 minutes to figure out how to change the "white noise" so whenever she's in her room she always wants me to turn it on so she can listen to all the different noises.
The big window in her room.  I really love this window and Emmie and Franklin like for me to pull up the blinds so they can look outside while we're in her room.

I really like Emmie's chair.  The chair and ottoman are on gliders so it serves as a rocker.  I like that Emmie can sit beside me while we read books and I hope that as she grows older she will still sit in it to read her books (it really is the perfect book reading chair!).  You can see her basket of books poking out.  For a long time they were just stacked up on the floor and I love the organization the basket brings to the room.  Emmie will oftern crawl into her room from the den and get books out of the basket and just sit in her floor and "read" them.
This is the valance over her small window (it's the same as the one over hte big window).  This gives you a good look at the bedding pattern.  This curtain rod was a very light wood color and the other one was brass but my mom had some kind of paint that she'd used in her house to repaint all the bathroom fixtures and it was the same color as the bedroom furniture so we repainted both rods.
This is the dresser that I'm currently using as a changing table.  Once again, this is a piece of furniture that she can use forever and it has a lot of storage space inside!

Park

Tuesday my mom and I decided to take Emmie to the park near my parent's house.  We don't have a park near our house so this was Emmie's first REAL trip to the park (we only went to the one by the zoo for a few minutes while waiting for the zoo to open on Monday).  On our way we stopped and picked up my Grandmother who used to take me and my brother and my cousins to the same park when we were younger!
Emmie's favorite thing at the park?  The slide!

She went down this slide A LOT!  We finally had to take a break...my back was hurting from picking her up and putting her on the slide!  We went down the curvy, closed in slide together and she thought that was great fun as well!

Playing with some acorns in the tire.  Acorns are quite fun!

She and Gran both tried out the swings.  She did better on the swings on Tuesday than she did on Monday...she's getting braver every day...plus she saw that Gran thought they were fun!
Emmie's Great-Grandmother pushed her on the swing.
Crawling through the tunnel.  She likes to go through tunnels.
She liked this bouncy toy because she could sit by herself.  Usually I have to hold on to her...her round little bottom would roll right off if I didn't!

What's a girl to do after a long afternoon at the park?
Chill out with her Grandaddy of course!
And then she helped her Daddy read the paper!

Patiently Waiting

My brother, Ben, sent this to me the other day and as soon as I saw it I said "hey, I just took a picture of Franklin that looks just like that!".

A Fun Monday

This morning my mom and I took Emmie to the Greenville Zoo.  Yes, I know, she goes to the zoo a lot but she does love it so!  Before we went to the zoo we stopped at the zoo park so that she could try out the swings.  Remember, she was not a fan of her swing when she was a baby and she's not a huge fan of the swings at My Gym so I wasn't sure how she'd react.  She did pretty well but you could tell she really wasn't sure about the whole thing.  She was pretty much just humoring us!

"Maybe if I close my eyes it won't be so bad."

She does however like to crawl through tunnels!

And she thought the slide was great fun!
Watching the monkeys with Gran.

She really likes the barnyard animals because she can get right up next to them.  I can't wait until she's older and can feed the goats...she's going to think that's hilarious!
Eating some yummy chicken and cheese toast for lunch.  She kept leaning over the side of the highchair like she was going to give Franklin a piece and then she'd change her mind and eat it herself...poor puppy. (Don't worry he's not that pitiful, she shared some at the end and at dinner tonight she was more than willing to share her green beans. Haha!)
This afternoon Emmie's Great-Grandmother came over to visit and eat dinner with us and it was lots of fun!  Emmie always likes to have a new audience!
