A Busy Day...with no pictures

We did lots of fun things today but sadly I didn't get any pictures...just too busy!  This morning we got up, ate breakfast, and Emmie turned her oatmeal bowl over on her head...that's right...she picked it up and put it on her head!  Luckily, she had eaten most of the oatmeal!  After scraping the oatmeal out of her hair we went to the library for 1 year old storytime.  It's so funny because Emmie has gotten to the point that she can go to My Gym and it doesn't really wear her out anymore but the library exhausts her!  Guess she's still getting used to going there.  They had a puppet show this week which she LOVED!  Everyone in the room was highly entertained by her reaction to the puppets and after the puppet show the librarian mentioned that they were having a puppet show storytime in the afternoon.  After storytime we ran to walmart real quick and then went home.  Emmie was so tired when we got home that I put her down a few minutes early for her nap BEFORE lunch...and you know how much my little girl loves lunch...she was sooo tired she didn't care!  I threw some laundry in and took a nap myself.  I woke up about an hour later STARVING.  I have been soooo hungry today...for breakfast I ate 3 pieces of tost and a container of yogurt and was still a little on the hungry side but by then Emmie was dumping oatmeal on her head so I got sidetracked from stuffing my face.  Ellie must be having some kind of growth spurt!  Emmie woke up from her nap about the same time that Meredith, who grew up in my church at home and now goes to USC, got to the house to babysit Emmie while I went to my OB appointment.  My appointment went great...my blood pressure is holding steady at 130s/80s and Ellie is measuring at exactly 28 weeks and her heart rate is in the 130s!  I ran home after the appointment and apparently Emmie, Franklin, and Meredith had a great time!  I grabbed Emmie and we went to the puppet show at the library.  She had sooo mcuh fun watching the puppets!  Equally entertaining for Emmie was the little girl sitting in front of us who was apparently wearing her halloween costume...a giraffe!  Emmie was obsessed and she had everyone in the room laughing.  After a while she went over and sat near the giraffe...she was really funny...the little girl was probably about 5 and didn't quite know what to make of Emmie!  After the puppet show we grabbed dinner and then went to My Gym for free play.  It was a mad house tonight...bunches of kids who apparently all wanted to play in the ball pit at the same time but Emmie had a great time.  After that it was time for bath and bed.  I wish I had some pictures to show you from the day.  Next time we go to the library I'll definitely take the camera...you never know when you're going to run into a giraffe!

Some Random Stuff...

Today while we were at My Gym one of the moms mentioned that Gymboree was having a GREAT sale so after we left I headed over there to check out the deals and they were AWESOME!  When all was said and done I saved 76% and got some great outfits (mostly for the winter).  I was also excited to get Emmie and Ellie 2 matching shirts...their first matching stuff!  When all was said and done I got 8 shirts, 4 dresses, 2 pairs of jeans, 3 pairs of tights, 4 panties for Emmie, 6 sets of barretts, 3 summer hats, and an adorable pair of 6mo shoes for Ellie.

While we were at My Gym today there were two new children in our class, both were around 13mo and had just moved up from the younger class.  They were just starting to walk and Emmie was quite facinated with them!  One was a little girl wtih a bow and Emmie kept trying to take it off...poor Ellie probably isn't going to get to wear many bows...her sister is going to take them all!

Right now Emmie is going through what I refer to as the "sponge stage".  She seems to soak up everything we do and say.  Her vocabulary increases everyday and she's always doing something new that she's watched one of us do.  One of the funniest things she has started doing is something she picked up from Franklin.  She will sometimes carry her toy around in her mouth!  Ha!  Sweet girl sometimes gets confused and thinks she's a puppy...Franklin never gets confused, he knows he's a people!

Easter

We started our Easter Sunday by going to the sunrise service at my parent's church.  They always have it at the pavillion that is behind the Peace Center and it's quite pretty.  We took Emmie and she lasted all of about 5 minutes and then she and Paul walked around and looked at all the ducks (but she did look cute in her dress!).  My mom wasn't feeling good (they think she has bronchitis) so she stayed home with Franklin and they cuddled...if you've known my mom for years it should astound you that she let a dog in her bed...but Franklin's not really a dog...he's a people.  Ben came home Saturday night and seeing him was a nice suprise as he originally wasn't going to make it home.  After we got home from church we ate breakfast and then Emmie and Franklin got to see what the Easter bunny brought them (it's not pictured but Franklin got a stuffed frog).

My parents got Emmie a cleaning set and a popper which she LOVED!  She wasn't sure about the vacuum cleaner the bunny brought her but she loved getting If You Take a Mouse to the Movies!  Her copy had been read to pieces and we have now read the book 1,567,395 times in the past 3 days!  After she looked at all her stuff we took her outside to play with her bubbles.  It got kind of messy so we stripped her down!

Around lunch time we headed up to Shelby, NC to do Easter with Paul's extended family.
Paul's parents got Emmie some clothes, a neat little clip that will hold a napkin around her neck (great for restaurants), and an old fashioned spinning top that all the kids loved.

Emmie had sooooo much fun with all the other girls and we all got a big kick out of watching her play with them!  Emma, Mary Jane, Laura Ann, Abby, and Riley were sooo good with her.

When we sat Emmie down with us to eat she kept looking over at the table where all the big girls were sitting so we moved her over to sit with them...she loved it.

Emma, Abby, Riley, Laura Ann, Mary Jane, and Emmie

Funny story:  When she finished her chicken nuggets she signed to me that she wanted more but I told her she couldn't have any more (she was already on her second serving) and that they were "all gone"so she turned to Mary Jane and signed "more".  Ha!  She apparently thought Mary Jane might know where some more chicken nuggets were!  After lunch all the girls went out and hunted Easter Eggs and Emmie quickly figured out what she was supposed to do. The older girls were so sweet and even helped Emmie find some eggs.

After the egg hunt we headed back to Columbia and got here around 5:30.  I put Emmie in her crib around 7:30 and she was still awake and she didn't fall asleep until 8:30!  Paul and I were so tired and I couldn't believe she was still awake.  She was just in there chatting away and my mom figures that maybe she and mousie had to tell her other animals about their adventures!  All in all we had a fun day and enjoyed seeing all our families!

Happy Birthday and Sunday Style Section

Emmie and Franklin want to wish their Daddy and Uncle Blake a very Happy Birthday! We hope ya'll had a fabulous day! (Sorry I didn't get a sign made...it just didn't happen in the craziness of the day!)

This is one of my favorite summer dresses.  It's just a comfy cotton that's perfect for the summer weather.

LOVE this little smocked dress that my mom found.  Plus, it's seersucker so it's nice and cool!

Gotta love the Osh Kosh!

This is the top of her Easter dress.  My mom made it and it has little lambs smocked on the top.

Check back tomorrow for Easter pictures!  We had a fun but busy day!

Zoo

Today my dad, Paul, and I took Emmie to the Greenville Zoo.  We got there a little early so that Emmie could play on the playground which she quite enjoyed and of course she had a fabulous time at seeing all the animals.  This time her favorite animals were the giraffes, the leopards, and the goats.  When we got to the leopards they were pacing back and forth in front of the glass and Emmie walked back and forth following them...talking/squealing the whole way!  I think the people around us were just as entertained by Emmie as they were by the leopeards.

baby ducks!

checking out the alligators with Grandaddy

Emmie got to feed one of the goats and she thought that was great and then she got to pet one that was leaning up against the fence...she loved it!

Sweet Sleepy Baby

One of my favorite times of the day is when I put Emmie down for either her nap or bedtime.  We always read a book and then I rock her to sleep.  I love these moments when my big girl still seems like a baby.  I love the way when she's about to go to sleep she'll either play with her hair (or my hair) or pinch the fat rolls on her neck (don't ask me why she does this but it seems to comfort her). I look at Emmie during the day and I think how fast she's grown up and so I truely treasure those moments when she just wants to cuddle up and fall asleep and she just be my baby (a very heavy baby though!).  I also love to watch her sleep.  She looks (kind of) peaceful.  Anybody who's ever slept in our guest room knows that she's not the most peaceful sleeper...she's quite noisy in fact and she moves around all night.  I love to see what crazy position she's in when I go kiss her goodnight before I go to bed.  Sometimes she's got her feet up on the crib rails, sometimes her little bottom's up in the air, sometimes she's sleeping on top of mousie...it's always entertaining!  Since she started taking a stuffed animal to bed with her she's always taken her mousie (the mouse from If You Take a Mouse to the Movies).  She LOVES mousie and yesterday I got a picture of her at the end of nap holding on to her mousie.

Children's Garden

Yesterday afternoon Kristi and I took Liv, Emmie, and Franklin to the Children's Garden to play.  Despite the fact that it was 90 degrees outside (of course we picked the hottest day this week to go!) and Kristi and I are both 6 1/2 months pregnant (we were crazy hot!) all of us had a lot of fun.  I love the pictures of the girls together...Liv is 6 weeks older than Emmie so they're pretty much going through the same stage right now and it's so much fun to watch them play together!  We plan on taking them back another day...perhaps in the morning when it's cooler!

This picture makes me super excited about taking to the beach.  She sure looks like she's ready!

Emmie loves to pet the deer statues!

16 months

I am 16 months old!

  • I wear a size 4 diaper.
  • I wear 18-2t shirts, 18-24mo dresses and pants, and 24mo-2t pajamas.
  • I have 8 teeth, 4 on the top and 4 on the bottom, and I'm working on some molars...lots of drooling and a runny nose involved with the teething!
  • I sleep about 12-12.5 hours at night and take a 1.5-2 hour nap after lunch.
  • I started eating regular oatmeal (as opposed to baby oatmeal) this month.  I like to eat it with my hands!
  • One of my favorite foods this month has been pears.
  • I can be very strong willed at times but overall I'm a very happy girl with a sweet personality.  If someone's holding me I will often pat them on the back!
  • I'm very good at independent play.  I will play by myself for an hour or so at a time!
  • I like to watch Sesame Street.  Elmo is my favorite!
  • This month I went to Red Robin with my GG, Papa Coach, and Mommy and I got to eat a chicken and cheese quesidilla and apples off of the kid's menu!  I felt like such a big girl and I ate almost all of my food!  They also gave me a kid's menu and some crayons to color with.
  •  This month I learned how to drink out of a straw and I also learned to say "straw".
  • I learned the sign for "read".  I LOVE to read and Mommy and I started going to one year old storytime at the library this month...it's sooo much fun and at the end they have BUBBLES!

  • This month I started actually walking around the neighborhood with Mommy instead of riding in the stroller.  I only get to do it when we go for a walk in the mornings (less traffic) but it's sooo much fun!
  • I went to the park a few times this month.

  • This month Mommy and I discovered the Children's Garden which is at Clemson Extension across from Sandhills.  It's really fun and is designed for kids that are my size.  The best part is that Franklin gets to go with us!

  • I went to the zoo with Liv this month.

  • I LOVE my hairbows!

  • This month Mommy was able to put my hair in a rubberband.  It stuck straight up!
  • I have a slight obsession with my sunglasses.
  • I know lots of body parts.  I know eyes, ears, nose, mouth, head, hair, tongue, hands, feet, toe, knee, and tummy.
  • I've gotten really good at signing "please" but I'm not so good about communicating what I'm saying "please" for.  We're working on that though!
  • I love all my shoes but especially my Sunday shoes.
  • I think it's funny to try to blow my nose.
  • I love to play with Franklin and one of my favorite ways to torture the little puppy is to take his toy when we're playing tug of war and lay on top of it so he can't get it back.  Mommy told me this wasn't very fair so I try not to do it now but sometimes I just can't resist.
  • I love to play outside!
  • I've recently become very interested in my baby dolls.

  • I went to Arlie's birthday party this month.
  • I still love going to My Gym!  I'm working really hard on learning to jump so I can jump on the trampoline like the big kids!
