Sunday Style Section

The little cherry dress my mom made.

Her tutu for her pictures!

I love this little leopard print dress, especially with her hot pink tights!

We were having an animal print kind of week!  Gin-g found this outfit for Emmie.  I think it is so cute and it has bows on it too!  One thing's for sure...Emmie can rock the animal prints!

A little smocked Christmas dress.  Tis the season!

It's just a little big on her...haha!  The actual dress isn't that big but there is sooo much material on the sleeves!  It's an adorable dress though and hopefully she'll be able to wear it again next year!

Catching Up

We had a busy week this week but it was lots of fun!  We went to Greenville Sunday afternoon to my parent's house.  Monday I got a lot of shopping done while my  mom watched Emmie.  It's so nice to be able to just run in a store without having to get a baby in and out of a car seat...especially when you have a lot of stops to make!
Tuesday the day started with having Emmie's one year old pictures taken by Mark and Russell at Ernest Rawlins.  (They did our wedding pictures too.)  I can't wait to see how the pictures turned out.  I'm pretty sure I'm going to want them all!  We did some with a tutu on, some with just her monogrammed bloomers, and some with a cute leopard print dress on.  Here's a little preview!
And this was just one I took in the dressing room with my camera...I can't wait to see how the professional ones turned out!

After we finished with pictures my Grandmother came over and we played with Emmie until lunchtime.

After she woke up from her nap my mom and I took her outside to play...it was sooo nice out...high 60s at the end of November is one of the big perks of living in South Carolina!

Gran!  Gran!  I've got something to tell you!

Look over there!  It's a bird!  It's a plane!  It's super Franklin!

Run Away!

That evening after her bath Emmie got a special suprise...her GIANT came home!  She is still just as fascinated with Ben as she was when she was younger.  It's so funny!

Emmie having a dance with her Uncle Ben.
The next morning they were eating breakfast at the same time and it took her FOREVER to eat because she was so busy staring at him!

On Wednesday we did Thanksgiving with my family.  My Grandmother came over along with Ben's girlfriend Sandy, and my cousin Michael and his wife Courtney.  We had a great time and ate lots of yummy food!  Before dinner we attempted to get a family picture for our Christmas card.  We thought it was hard the last 2 years when we were trying to get Franklin to hold still and look at the camera...well it's even harder when you have to get Franklin AND Emmie to focus...at the same time!  HA!  It was quite an ordeal and I may end up just putting a picture of Emmie and one of Franklin on there.  These are some of the more humerous outtakes!

Hey Franklin, I have an idea.  Let's both look away from the camera at the same time.  Ready? One, two, three, GO!

On Thursday morning we went to Boiling Springs, NC to celebrate Thanksgiving with Paul's extended family.  Once again we had bunches of yummy food and we really enjoyed visiting with everyone!  Emmie had such a good time because Laura Ann, Emma, and Mary Jane were all there to play with her!  I just can't get over how sweet they are with Emmie and how much she enjoys playing with them.  Emmie's face lit up as soon as she saw them!  After Laura Ann finished eating luch she and Emmie were playing in some pop-up tents that were set up and everytime Laura Ann would stick her head out Emmie would just laugh and laugh...it was so cute!
Crawling through the tents with Emma and Mary Jane.

Happy Thanksgiving!

We are so thankful this Thanksgiving for all of our family and friends!  We were so fortunate to be able to celebrate Thanksgiving with both sides of our families.  We celebrated Wednesday with my family and today with Paul's family.  Emmie really enjoyed her first Thanksgiving and she can't wait until next year when she gets to eat all the yummy Thanksgiving food!  (Although she thought her Thanksgiving salmon was pretty good yesterday!)

A Look Back: Sunday Style Section month 1

So I've decided to do a Sunday Style Section "look back".  I've decided to start with Emmie's first month even though I didn't have my blog then.  She still had some pretty cute clothes that I was sad to pack up!  I will say when I was packing these newborn clothes up (which I did when she was around 3 mo. old and we took them over for Julia to borrow) I couldn't believe that she had ever been small enough to wear them!  It's even harder for me to believe now!
The dreaded bear suit.  We would stuff Emmie in this when we went for walks!  Luckily for Emmie Abby got her a bear jacket which was much more tolerable!
I love this little sleeper.  This is waht we had her hospital pictures taken in.
Emmie getting acquainted with her puppy, Franklin.
Franklin said boppies are stylish places to sleep!  This is also a great picture of her boppy cover.  If i remember correctly Claire and Kelly, who work with me, gave this to us and then Christa monogrammed her name on it.  We got so many compliments on the cover while we were in the hospital!
Emmie's Christmas dress from Susan.  She was so cute in it and I love the tights.  I love the experession on her face.  "Really, you're taking another picture...sigh."
I love this outfit.  The shirt says it all!
My only regret with this outift is that it was a newborn size so she couldn't wear it very long!  I really love how she looks in brown.
This is Emmie getting ready to go home from the hospital!  Underneath the sweater she had a white onesie that Christa monogrammed.  My mom knitted the sweater, hat, and booties.  They were so cute!
This is a few hours after she was born.  I was MADLY in love with her hat....it had a BOW!  I love how sweet and peaceful she looks. :)

Sunday Style Section

This is one of the outfits that I made Emmie and I LOVE the fabric.  One of the best things about this outfit is that she can wear it all year...we just stick a long sleeve shirt underneath in the winter and we're good to go!

This is the dress Emmie wore today.  See the plaid on it?  It was perfect for this Sunday because (unbeknownst to me) this week was the Kirkin of the Tarten which is a Scottish thing so Emmie fit right in.  It was at the second service and we go to the first so I went and got Emmie from the nursery after Sunday School and we went and listened to the bagpipes in the courtyard and then watched them parade into the sanctuary.  It was really neat and Emmie, my music lover, thought it was great.  After they finished playing she clapped and said "yay".

The great thing about this dress?  It has a BOW!

...WHAT?  It doesn't work that way...oh...ok... well I guess you'll just have to look at your sign from afar.

A Fun Few Days

So the last two days we've been pretty busy but we've had lots of fun!  Wednesday we started out the day with some grocery shopping and while we were out shopping I kept thinking how nice it was outside.  It was sunny and in the mid 60s and the past few days had been sooo dreary.  I decided it would be a perfect zoo day!  So we called up Kerri and Ivy and invited them and after the girls had taken a nap we were off to the zoo.  We spent TWO HOURS at the zoo but we had lots of fun and we got to hear the tiger roar...although I think Kerri and I were more impressed than the girls were.  The kangaroos and wallabies were hopping all over their exhibit and were up close to the path so the girls LOVED watching them.  (At Riverbanks you can actually go into the kangaroo and wallaby exhibit...it's very cool.)  So, we closed down the zoo and then Emmie and I headed home for dinner and bath and bed!
Today, we had My Gym this morning which is always lots of fun and Emmie took a nice hour long nap afterwards.  After lunch, Kristi and Liv came over to play.  Liv is 6 weeks older than Emmie and she just started walking...it's sooo cute.  I told Emmie to take notes :)  Liv and Emmie were very cute together and Kristi and I have plans to get together in the next little bit to sew while the girls entertain each other!  It's always nice to talk to someone who's going through the same stages you are with your child.  Kristi's even better...she's a little bit ahead...I get to learn from her experiences!  After Kristi and Liv left Emmie took a 1 1/2 hour nap (yay!) which meant I also got a nap (double yay!).  Then I woke her up, gave her a bottle, and we took Franklin to get groomed.  While he was getting groomed we went to Books A Million so I could get Emmie some books for Christmas.  We timed our trip perfectly! Right when we left Amanda, Franklin's groomer, texted me and said he was almost ready. So we picked him up, came home and ate, played for a bit, and then bath and bed!
Sadly, I was very, very slack about taking pictures during all our fun.  I did get one cute picture tonight of a very cute, clean puppy!

11 Months!

I am 11 months old!

  • I wear 9-12mo clothes (but mostly 12 mo).
  • I wear a size 4 diaper.
  • I have 6 teeth - 2 on the bottom and 4 on the top.  All of the top ones came in during the month of October.
  • When my mommy tried shoes on me at the store a few weeks ago I wore a size 2 but my foot has apparently grown a lot in the past 2 weeks and now they're almost too small!
  • I've started wearing big bows again and I will usually wear them for awhile before pulling them off.

  • I am no longer breastfeeding.  I'm still drinking the frozen breastmilk out of a bottle (thawed out of course) ;).  I've just started working on making the transition to whole milk in a cup.
  • I have a very healthy appetite.
  • I sleep from 7:30 at night until about 7:45 in the morning.  The whole time change really threw me for a loop so sometimes I wake up earlier than normal.  I'm getting adjusted though!
  • I usually only take 1 nap a day - right after lunch and sleep for about 1.5 hours.
  • I still get lots of colds. :(   They don't slow me down though!
  • I love to hold on to someone's fingers and walk.
  • I will stand by myself every once and awhile.
  • I like to push my wagon around the house!
  • I really like to climb stairs and my mommy is very glad that our stairs are behind a door so that I don't have easy access to them.
  • I love to play with Franklin.  It always makes me laugh when we play tug of war.
  • I LOVE to go to My Gym.  When we walk in I start clapping my hands and I laugh while I crawl out to where all the stuff is.  We go once a week for class and we usually try to go once a week for Free Play because I love it so much!  I'm excited because during the holiday season we get to go to UNLIMITED classes!
  • Last month I was still a little scared of trampoline at My Gym but now I LOVE it.  Now, when I sit on something soft or bouncy (like the mattress on mommy and daddy's bed) I bounce like I'm on the trampoline.  I will also sit on the trampoline while the bigger kids jump.  I think that's lots of fun.
  • I was a lamb for Halloween.  We went to Boo at the Zoo and I had sooo much fun!
  • This month I went to the park for the first time and had lots of fun.
  • I went to Greenville for a week and at the end of week my mommy went back to Columbia to work and Franklin and I stayed with daddy at Gran and Grandaddy's.  It was the first time I'd been away from my mommy overnight.  We both did very well...although Franklin was a little bit on edge.
  •  I went to the Greenville Zoo with Gran and mommy.
  • I went to Riverbanks Zoo with GG and mommy.
  • I love slides.

  • I crawl in everything and I've started climbing all over things. (Don't worry, this carseat was quickly moved to another room where I couldn't get to it, along with my bouncer and my baby swing.)
  • I'm getting better about saying bye-bye before the person is completely gone!
  • This month I got to help give Franklin a bath and it was soooo much fun!
  • I have started getting a little clingy to mommy.  I don't really like for anyone else to hold me if my mommy is around.  If she's not there then I'm ok with other people holding me.
  • I love to read books.  Sometimes when my mommy and I are in the den I'll just crawl into my room by myself and start looking at all my books.
  • I'm learning how to sort shapes.
  • I also love my white noise machine and I've learned how to change the sounds.  Right now my favorite noise is the waterfall.
  • I can say "bath" and I get very excited about bathtime.
  • I jabber ALL the time!
