Last Sunday I took the girls to see The Nutcracker to celebrate Emmie's birthday. This is the third "version" of the Nutcracker that we've seen in Columbia and Emmie and I agreed that it was definitely our favorite and one of Emmie's friends from church was in it and so she loved that!

For Emmie's birthday, instead of a birthday party, I had originally planned for all of us, plus a friend of Emmie's, to go on a twilight train ride with Santa in Winnsboro ON Emmie's birthday which would have been so fun but they sold out within hours of tickets going on sale!! So we went to the Nutcracker instead which she was thrilled about. She invited one of her friends from school to go with us and it was such a fun girls event!

After the ballet Emmie had requested dinner at a "fancy" restaurant so we met up with Paul and JP at California Dreaming. The girls all thought it was super special and Emmie they even got a scoop of ice cream afterwards. Emmie's came with a birthday candle in it and we sang to her...she loved it! I had hoped the servers would sing to her because she would have been absolutely thrilled but they were super busy so I guess that's why they didn't. She didn't know what she was missing so she was pretty excited about her candle and our table singing.

I loved doing a special event instead of a party and I'm hoping Emmie will continue to want to do this...it was so easy and so fun and we made wonderful memories. :)
