2 Summerville Trips

We have been busy bees around here the last few weeks. We went to Summerville Memorial Day weekend and while Paul played in a golf tournament the girls and I had lots of fun with Paul's parents. Friday we went to the beach, Saturday and Sunday it was a little cooler but we went to a park and hung out around the house and Monday we finally got a day that was warm enough to go to the pool which was nice because Paul was done with golf by then so he got to go with us. The girls were really excited because Uncle Blake was able to come for part of the time. The girls had so much fun at the beach on Friday and we had PERFECT beach weather. Emmie quickly found some friends and after awhile Ellie joined in on their fun too. I love how Emmie can always find a friend wherever we are and I was so glad that Ellie joined in as well.

I love watching their little personalities as they develop. There was a big tide pool at the beach and at one end there was a big drop off. Well Ellie ran full speed into the end with the drop off and landed face first in the water. It scared her a little but after a while she took my hand and walked back over and wanted me to help her go in at the deep part. She was seeing the older kids walk right in and she was determined to figure it out! I LOVE her determination and I was so proud of her for facing her fears!

Friday night the Edwards watched the girls and Paul and I went to the dinner that the golf tournament had. It was so relaxing to get to go to dinner together and spend time with other adults without having to worry about what the girls were doing! On Saturday night (when I really, really wish I'd had my camera with me!) we took the girls to the dinner after the golf tournament.
I loved their party outfits!

They also had a DJ and the girls had the BEST time dancing with some friends they'd made who were about their age. Emmie was having so much fun she really didn't want to go so we let her stay late with us. (Apparently having to leave without her sister broke Ellie's heart but there is no way she could have stayed...she was exhausted!) Once all Emmie's friends had left the line dancing songs started and at first Emmie just sat and watched us dance but finally I convinced her to come dance with us and she had so much fun and it was super cute...I'm pretty sure she showed up Uncle Blake with her dancing...hehe!  Sunday for dinner we went to dinner to celebrate Megean's birthday (she grew up with Paul and Blake) and the girls were exhausted but we still had fun visiting with everyone. I was kind of slack about taking pictures but I was glad I managed to get a few at the beach!

We went home on Memorial Day and then the girls and I (and little puppy of course) went back to Summerville on Sunday evening. We went to the beach Monday with Gin-g and the girls were able to play for a few hours and then we left because it started looking stormy. We timed it perfectly as it started pouring as soon as we got in the car. Tuesday we did something new! We went and rode the water taxi in Charleston! The water taxi picked us up at the aquarium and we got round trip tickets so we rode the boat to Patriot's Point, through the marina, and back to the aquarium. The best part was that we got to see some dolphins pretty close up which the girls loved. They also loved seeing the big ships come in to the harbor.

they both kept thinking the cruise ship was an airplane...guess it's the "tail" that made them think that!

After the water taxi we went to a lovely little park in Mt. Pleasant under the bridge. It was so nice and shaded and the girls had a blast. They played for a little bit and then we went to lunch. They had fun but were definitely worn out by the time we got back to Summerville! Wednesday Gin-g and I took the girls back to the beach and Mrs. Rita went with us. The girls loved having her along. It was kind of overcast the whole time but the girls still had lots of fun and we even ran into one of our friends from church! We took a picnic and ate at the picnic area near the beach and let the girls play on the playground for a bit. We headed back to Columbia Wednesday evening and the girls were WORN OUT from all their adventures! BOTH of them slept until 9:15 the next morning which was just glorious.
