Camping

My dad goes camping a lot and the girls have mentioned many times that they would like to go camping. They had a half day Thursday and were off school Friday so this was a perfect weekend for some fun! My parents came Thursday afternoon and Friday morning we headed over to Sesquicentennial State Park to set up our campsite! Sesqui is less than 10 minutes from our house so it was super convenient!
We got our campsite and set up the tent and then went over to the playground and checked out the lake. JP caught site of the paddle boats and all he asked about from then on was the boats!

After the kids played for awhile we headed to Chick-fil-a for lunch and then back to the house so JP could get a nap. While he was napping we packed up all our sleeping bags and food so we were ready to head out to camp when JP woke up!
The kids were SO excited when we got to the campsite! Ellie immediately wanted to go on a hike. We took a little walk through the woods near our campsite and girls found some fallen trees that they could climb on which they very much enjoyed.




After our hike we headed back to start dinner. We had hamburgers and hot dogs. Paul arrived not long after we started eating.




After dinner my dad started the fire. The kids were really excited about the fire...mostly because they knew that s'mores were involved!




After we gorged on marshmallows and s'mores my mom and I took JP and headed back home. Our little campers were pretty ready to hit the sleeping bags...they were tired!
This morning when JP woke up the very first thing out of his mouth was "boat"? We fed him breakfast and headed to check on the campers. They were just getting ready to eat breakfast when we got there so we joined them! Paul had cooked eggs, bacon, and hash browns and we also had biscuits and apples.




After breakfast Ellie wanted to go on another hike so we headed back into the woods. (I NEVER would have thought that Ellie would be our hiker!) While we were hiking my mom and dad broke down the tents. When we got back the kids helped Grandaddy put out the fire and then we headed over to the boats. JP was SO excited!

We paddled around the lake for awhile. Emmie was in our boat and she took my place at the pedals for awhile. She loved being able to pedal the boat! Ellie took my mom's place but her legs weren't quite long enough so Grandaddy did a LOT of pedaling!








After the boats we let the kids play on the playground for a bit (and Ruthie found a friend from school!) and then we headed home. My parents headed back to Greenville and the rest of us took a long afternoon nap! The girls were pretty tired!

JP was cracking me up today walking around with his hand in his pocket. Such a little man!
