Sunday's Style Section
This past Sunday I had to work so Paul was in charge of getting Emmie dressed and ready for church. Being the evil wife that I am, I picked out an outfit for Emmie that included tights (insert evil laugh). Paul told me that he didn't get great pictures because she wasn't very happy...I asked him why she wasn't happy...he said he didn't think she liked the tights. Ladies, take a look at her feet...would you be happy about those tights? I think it took quite a few tries for Paul to get them on her in some fashion...he's such a trooper!
Emmie's dress this week was a cute little pink quilted looking dress (another Nursery Rhyme dress) with a onesie with bears on it underneath and of course the adorable tights!

"Umm...daddy? I don't think this is quite right."

Adventures in the Upstate!
This week Franklin, Emmie, and I packed up and went to Greenville for 4 days. (I had a dentist appointment and a haircut appointment in Greenville.) We had so much fun while we were there. We went on many long walks, took Emmie to meet everyone at the dentist's office, Franklin had his first experience with a small child (that wasn't a baby) when Beth, who cuts my hair, came over with her 2 kids...her oldest is about 4, Emmie and I went to lunch with some of my mom's friends, and we took Emmie to Wednesday night dinner at church. Wednesday night dinner was quite an adventure for Emmie. It's held in the gym at church and there are a LOT of people and when we first arrived there were kids playing basketball which she found quite intriguing. After a few minutes of looking around she got a little overwhelmed (cuddled up to my mom, eyes got really big, sucking on fingers) but she gradually got a more accustomed to all the noises and goings on. While we were in Greenville she got to hang out with her Granddaddy (who discovered that she's quite interested in the rubber duck in her bathtub...more on that another day) and she got to spend lots of quality time with her Gran! She also got to play with her GREAT grandmother who came over to visit on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Most of the pictures from when we were there are on my mom's camera so I don't have them yet but I took a few and thought these were so sweet.

Sunday's Style Section
This was Emmie's dress for church today...an adorable Nursery Rhyme dress....which we quickly changed from when we got home from church...it was COLD...nevermind that the weatherman on the news THIS MORNING said it was going to be 75 today...rainy but warm...NOT! (Can you tell I'm just slightly bitter?)
I wish there was a better picture of her socks...they were adorable with a pink flower on top that had a button in the middle! Also, the bloomers have ruffles on the back...SO CUTE!

The day the giant came to visit...
Today was the big day...I went back to work after 13 weeks at home with Emmie and Franklin. I've cried many, many tears about going back to work but it was funny because when today came I wasn't as upset as I thought I'd be. I think the anticipation of going back to work was actually worse than the actual event. I was glad to see my friends at work and my patients. I was so happy to get one of my favorite patients...a cute little boy who used to hug Emmie before she was born. I did better at work than I thought I would...I only really cried once...poor Carey gave me a hug and I fell apart on her...but she was sweet about it and I did well the rest of the day!
But enough about my day...Emmie's day was so much more interesting. Why you ask? Because a GIANT came to her house!!! Yesterday, my mom and Ben (my little brother...well not so much little as younger...who by the way hadn't seen Emmie in a few months) came to spend the night so they could keep Emmie while I was at work. When Ben walked in the door Emmie looked up at him...and up, and up, and up...and her eyes got reallly big..it was quite comical! There was a GIANT in her house!! Ben, at last measurement, which was awhile ago, was 6ft and in Emmie's world that's pretty tall! She was hilarious yesterday...just kept looking up. Then he had on a Clemson sweatshirt and she was fascinated by the orange letters...I guess because there isn't any orange clothing in our house....we start the brainwashing very early! Apparently she just kept staring at him all day today as well...she was just absolutely fascinated by her Uncle Ben!
Franklin's day was also quite exciting...there was some yard work done and of course he had to help with that so when I called to check on everyone at about 11:15 Franklin was getting his feet washed!
The kiddos had a big day and I was so glad that Gran and Uncle Ben were able to come keep Emmie today...it made my first day back at work easier knowing that Emmie and Franklin were in good hands! This was at Christmas...that's Ben in the middle.

All dressed up for church
With the warm weather here (more or less) I've had so much fun putting Emmie in little dresses. All week long Emmie and I discuss what cute dress she should wear to church on Sunday (sometimes Franklin helps too). I've been waiting ALL week to put her in this one. The best thing about it? It has a BOW! I'm a sucker for bows...any type of bows on any article of clothing (shoes, pants, dresses, shirts, etc). My shoe shopping buddy Susan used to roll her eyes at me when I'd pick out yet ANOTHER pair of shoes with bows on them. As it turns out I needed all those shoes with bows because when Franklin went through his shoe eating phase he decided the shoes with bows tasted the best...luckily, because I had so many to begin with, I still have a few pairs left! But, I digress. Once I got her all dressed in her cute dress we added an adorable bracelet I picked up the other day (I've decided Emmie is going to be a bracelet wearer...they just add something special to the outfit...thanks to the Pattersons for giving her a pearl bracelet, otherwise I wouldn't have ever realized how cute they look on her!) . We added a cardigan for our walk later that day as the sun was hiding and the wind had picked up a little...and of course I had to take pictures again!
Now she just needs to grow some more hair so I can put a bow in her hair!

discovering new friends...
Emmie has a little play gym and there are two creatures that hang on it. She has recently discovered these creatures and will spend a good 30min at a time "talking" to her friends! The yellow one plays music when you bop it and she has discovered this as well...she seems very proud of the fact that she can make it sing!

"It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood" and "I'm a Big Girl Now"
Oh how true! The last few days have been GORGEOUS! We've been on many long walks (Rebekah and I took Addison, Emmie, and Franklin around the neighborhood about 5 or 6 times today), played outside with Franklin, and over all have truely enjoyed every last sunshiney minute. One of the best things about the warm weather is that I get to dress Emmie in all her cute little summery outfits...I can resist buying her clothes until it comes to cute little sundresses. This was the one she wore today...so cute!
Since Emmie was born I have been so frustrated over the fact that she doesn't like her swing. Before she was born everyone told me how great the swing would be and how EVERY baby LOVES the swing. Not only did Emmie not love her swing but she would cry when you put her in it (unless she was already asleep...she does take many naps there). Lately I've noticed that whenever Emmie is in her carseat or her bouncer (or reclining anywhere else) she spends much of the time she's in there doing crunches (aka trying to sit up) so I finally had the great idea to sit the seat of her swing up...it's amazing - she likes it (doesn't quite love it yet but we're getting there)! This is a whole new world for me...I can actually do things around the house without carting a baby around. We also discovered that if we put her in her highchair while we eat, we can almost get through a whole meal without having to hold her! Today I sat her up in the boppy on the couch and she had such a good time! My little baby is growing up so fast!

Lions and tigers and BEARS! Oh My!
This past weekend at the shower in Summerville Emmie revceived a HUGE stuffed bear. It's the kind of bear that every kid yearns for: soft, cuddly, and bigger than everyone else's stuffed animal! Yesterday I put it in the nursery beside Emmie's crib (about as far as you can get from the doorway...this will be an important detail later on in our story). Up until our story begins Franklin had not shown much interest in the bear. However last night Paul and I were sitting on the couch, watching TV, and I was feeding Emmie when we noticed that Franklin was missing. When Franklin dissapears either a) he's exhausted and has gone to get in our bed or b) he's up to no good. Last night it was option "b". When we notice he's not around Paul starts glancing around for him and as he looks behind him towards Emmie's room here comes Franklin...dragging the bear behind him! Ten pound Franklin has manged to drag this massive bear across the carpet in Emmie's room, around the dresser and through the doorway, through the hallway and through the doorway into the den! Paul said that when Franklin saw Paul looking at him, Franklin looked at Paul as if to say "well, are you going to help me or what?". Poor Franklin, he drug the ferocious bear out of his baby's room and those terrible parents just went and put it right back in there...it's rough being the responsible one in the family.
I couldn't get Franklin to pose with the bear but he and Emmie are about the same size and so she volunteered to have her picture taken to provide a visual.

a fabulous weekend!
This past weekend was a first for Emmie...her first trip to Summerville! We went Saturday morning to stay with Paul's parents for the weekend. Emmie had a great time on her trip. There was a welcome sign on the front door when she got there, she got to spend lots of time playing with Coach and GG, and on Sunday there was a party for her! Some of the Edwards' friends in Summerville hosted a "Sip 'n See" so that everyone could meet Emmie. Emmie had a great time at the party and, being the social butterfly that she is, she even stayed awake almost the whole time even though it was naptime (and she was even in a pretty good mood)! Paul and I enjoyed getting to see all our Summerville friends and show off our adorable baby. And, as if she wasn't rotten enough, my parents were there on Sunday so she got a double dose of grandparents...a girl could get used to that lifestyle! All in all it was a great weekend for all of us and Emmie definitely got a very warm welcome to Summerville (and she can't wait till it's warm so we can go to the beach when we visit)!
