Disney Cruise Part 6: Characters/Disney Jr Breakfast

A picture with Cinderella as soon as we walked on the ship.

Of course one of the best things about a Disney Cruise is getting to see so many characters without waiting in crazy lines! When we have gone to the parks the kids have really been into seeing characters. On the ship however they weren't nearly as interested. I think it was because there were so many other exciting things to do!
Each day on the Navigator they have a schedule of when characters will be out on the ship. Generally I would glance over the Navigator if we were just sitting around and see who was out and see if anyone wanted to go. It was rare for all the kids to want to do a character meet and greet but often one or two would want to. I think the only characters I heard someone really feel strongly about was Emmie wanting to meet Ariel and JP wanting to meet Pluto. We have done signature books twice at Disney World so I didn't do them for the cruise and it was pretty nice not having to worry about digging out books and pens when we were meeting the characters. Also, you will notice that the characters had different outfits depending on the occasion (pirate night, formal night, their "sea" outfit) which was a fun little detail.
JP currently has a Pluto obsession so he was really excited about meeting him!

Captain Hook and Smee

While we were waiting in line to meet Captain Hook there was a surprise visitor who came to taunt Hook!

Chip and Dale on Formal Night in there tuxes.

Emmie meeting Ariel.

JP was a little shy about meeting Tiana but the big girls love her!

Pro Tips for character meets:
Arrive about 5min before the scheduled time (10 for a princess!) and you should be toward the front of the line.
The line usually stays open until the next character is scheduled to arrive in the area, usually about 15min. A cast member will get at the end of the line when they close the line so as long as you are in front of the cast member you are guaranteed a meet!

One of the other really neat things was that many times we would just be walking around the ship and would turn a corner and run into a character who was just walking around! That was so fun and exciting!
I ran into Goofy when I was headed to pick up the kids from Kid's Club.

And then we spotted him when we were about to head into dinner that night.

Ruthie ran into Belle when we were leaving dinner one night. She was just walking down the hall! (The other kids were at Kid's Club)

We found Mickey on the pool deck in his Hawaiian shirt.

We ran into Pluto leaving Kid's Club on Formal Night.

Emmie and Ellie were with us for this Belle encounter.

One of my very favorite character moments on the ship was the last day. Ruthie and Emmie and I were doing the Midship Detective Agency and walked by the lobby and saw Mickey and Goofy playing around so we headed over to see them. As we were getting pictures with them here comes Minnie. And then Donald. And then Pluto. NONE of these characters were on the Navigator. It was just a bonus meet and it was so fun! And we were some of the first people in the lobby so we got to see all the characters really quickly and before there was a crowd.
Mickey and Goofy just hanging in the lobby.

I love that happy face!

Once we were done seeing all the characters we continued back with the Detective game by heading down one floor. As we were working on the game we were standing near the doors to the Promenade deck and happened to see Chip and Dale walking by on the Promenade! So then we got to go see them!

On our day in Grand Cayman we started the day with a Disney Jr character breakfast. The breakfast was good and quick and we got to see some characters we wouldn't have seen otherwise.
Fancy Nancy has been a favorite at our house since long before she was a Disney Jr character.

JP and Roo are big Doc McStuffins fans.

The breakfast ended with a visit from Mickey.
