Disney Cruise Part 5 - Castaway Cay

We spent our last day of the cruise at Castaway Cay, Disney's private island in the Bahamas. This was probably one of my favorite days of the trip. Castaway Cay was beautiful and fun and you had all the comforts of the ship on the beach! There was food, drinks, and even the ice cream machines!
You could go ashore starting at 8:30. I think we got to breakfast about 8 and sat at a table by the pool and watched the first wave of people getting off the ship while we admired the view.

After we ate we changed into bathing suits and headed to the beach!

We were able to find chairs together with no issue. There was LOTS of seating and LOTS of umbrellas. If you got to the beach later in the morning you might not be able to find chairs together but it was possible to find chairs. There is a large beach area and then further down a smaller beach area. (There is also an area with cabanas and an adult only beach but we didn't explore those areas.). We set up at the large beach, relatively close to the snorkel area. The water slides are at the smaller beach area and at first I regretted not getting chairs there but then that beach area got SO crowded so I was glad we were in the area where there was more space.
Once we were settled we went and did the water slides. The kids all were able to do them and they had SO much fun! (Paul and I did them too!)

I was so impressed with JP. The water slides end in deep water and Paul went down before JP but he couldn't be at the end to catch him as you have to stay a certain distance back from the end of the water slide. JP had a life jacket on but I was worried he'd freak out when Paul wasn't there to catch him. Little man went into the water and put his head in and started swimming toward Paul. I was so proud of him!

After some water slide time we headed back to our chairs and the kids got down to business playing in the sand and water. My parents watched them for a bit while Paul and I went snorkeling. After we came back we gradually went and ate lunch. (JP, shocker, was ready before the other kids so we split up so little man didn't starve to death!)

Emmie doing monkey bars across the water!

After lunch the kids got busy playing some more (oh and they ate some ice cream somewhere in there). We all loved how clear and gorgeous the water was (although it was a bit chilly, especially in the morning) and they always have a great time playing in the sand! Right before we headed back to the ship my dad and I headed to do the water slide. There was almost no line so we were able to do it a few times before heading back. (So, pro tip, wait until after lunch to do the water slide!)
We headed back to the ship and JP headed straight to the pool!
Fun in the sand!

We all loved our day at Castaway and it is definitely a "must do" if you're doing a Disney cruise!
(As a side note, some of the characters were out at Castaway Cay but the kids opted to keep playing in the water instead of going to see the characters.)
