Greenville Recap

I took the girls up to my parent's house last Saturday and then I came back and Paul and I had a date night...we went to dinner and then went and saw the Hunger Games. The movie was good but the book was definitely better!
I worked Sunday and Monday and then headed up to Greenville after work on Monday.

While I was at work the girls had lots of fun with Gran and Grandaddy (who actually made it home some while they were awake...my dad's an accountant so he pretty much lives at work this time of year). Emmie helped Grandaddy get the garden ready for planting.

Dr. Emmie checked out everyone at the house.

Tuesday morning we just hung around the house and that afternoon Emmie and I went over to Beth's to get our haircut. Emmie is ALWAYS talking about getting her haircut and she also likes to "cut" all of our hair. She'll go get her princess apron and put it on and tell us that she's "Mrs. Beth". It's super cute.

Most of the week we just relaxed at my parent's house and enjoyed the nice weather. We played outside A LOT! My mom found a little tricycle for Emmie and she had a great time riding on it. The kids in our neighborhood are always out riding their bikes and so Emmie was so excited to have a bike! She didn't quite have the muscles to peddle on her own but she enjoyed having us push her.

My Grandmother came over 2 days to spend some time with the girls. She brought them Easter baskets and also some bubbles which Emmie LOVED!

We also filled up the pool and let Emmie play in it. We figured it was too cold for Ellie to get in but she wanted to splash and she got herself soaked splashing with Emmie so I went ahead and put her in. She played for a few minutes and then decided it was a little chilly!

Tuesday night I took Emmie to see the Easter Bunny at Chick-fil-a as a "warm up" for seeing the real bunny and Wednesday my mom and I took them to the mall to see the bunny and they were AWESOME!

Emmie and I had to take some time out of the Easter Bunny visits to give Franklin a bath!

On Friday I took Emmie to the zoo and Ellie got some "only child" time with Gran. (Funny story, Ellie ended up in the bathtub by herself one day so she sat in the front of the tub...she normally sits in the back...my mom said she was quite fascinated by the drain...she didn't know those existed!) Anyway, Emmie and I had a great time at the zoo even though it was quite chilly! On the plus side, because it was chilly there weren't many people there first thing!

They had an exhibit with a SQUIRREL in it... TRUE STORY! (apparently it is some special kind of squirrel)

Paul came up Friday afternoon and the girls were very glad to see their Daddy...they hadn't seen him for almost a week! We had a special suprise on Friday night...Uncle Bean (aka The Giant, aka Uncle Ben) came home from Clemson to join us for dinner! Emmie had so much fun playing outside with him.

Saturday Paul kept the girls and my parent's and I went to Atlanta for my cousin John's memorial service (more on that another day). The service was so nice and it truely honored John's memory.

Sunday we headed went to NC for Easter...check out the previous post for that update!

Easter Festivities

The Easter Bunny came to visit yesterday! The girls got lots of books and Emmie got a puzzle as well. The EB didn't forget our little puppy either...he got a yummy bone which he promptly ran and hid in the living room couch...for the record he's not supposed to be on the living room couch.

We were at my parent's house this past week and yesterday morning I dressed the girls in their Easter dresses and we got some great pictures.

Not sure what they're looking at but they both seem a bit worried!

Gran and her babies!

Not quite sure why this pic won't flip...it's a pretty decent on of all of us though!

We're getting pictures done on the Horseshoe on Friday and the girls are going to wear their dresses...I can't wait!

After our "photo session" and packing up the car we headed to NC to celebrate Easter with Paul's mom's side of the family. As always, we had a fabulous time. Ellie was pretty clingy at first, lots of new people and she was tired and off her schedule, but when all the little girls finished eating and were playing in the gym I took her in there and she had the BEST time with them! I am so thankful for Emma, Mary Jane, Laura Ann, Abby, and Riley...they are always so sweet to my girls! Emmie was sure that she was just as big as they were and they were very happy to let her tag along and they each came over at some point and played with Ellie for a few minutes.

Ellie's so happy watching the big girls!

Easter Bunny Part 2

SUCCESS!!!

We took the girls to the mall today to see the Easter Bunny and they BOTH did GREAT! Emmie was still on her EB kick from last night and so she was all about sitting in his lap and my sweet, clingy Ellie who cries if anyone she doesn't know even looks at her was all about sitting in his lap and she kept petting the bunny...I think perhaps she thought he was a large Franklin...they're both white and fluffy.

The girls wore their matching Easter dresses that my mom smocked...she made Emmie's for Easter last year and made Ellie a matching one this year....I just love them!

I was so excited to get a GOOD picture (as in no screaming children and both are looking in the same direction). We couldn't get Em to smile but that's ok!

I LOVE Ellie's face in this picture. She thinks it's awesome that Emmie is honking the bunny's nose. In her head she's saying "come on Emmie, do it...we won't get in trouble...come on...trust me".

Easter Bunny Part 1

The girls (and Franklin) and I are at my parent's house for the week. This evening the Easter Bunny was at the Chick-fil-a near their house so I took Emmie. My mom and I are taking both girls to the mall tomorrow to see the bunny but I figured this might be a good way to get Emmie acclimated to the Easter Bunny so that perhaps I'll only have one screaming child tomorrow instead of two! Emmie was hilarious and I'm pretty sure that most of the restaurant was entertained by her antics. The EB wasn't out when we got there so I got her a fruit cup and we set up shop at a table across from the EB's chair. When he headed out way Emmie wanted to go see him so I picked her up and took her over where he was and she wanted NOTHING to do with him...so we sat back down. There were quite a few other kids there that were very excited to see the EB so Emmie and I talked a lot about how nice he was and how happy the other kids were to see him. We did a little dance of getting up and starting towards the EB and then her getting nervous and going back to the table. We did this for about 10min. Then she was really funny. She decided she wanted to go see him and we stood up and headed over there and she looked at me and said "Mommy, go sit at the table"...ooookay. My sweet Emmie is sooo independent and a little part of me was proud that she was going to conquer her fear head on by herself while another part of me was sad that she didn't need to hold Mommy's hand.
She very slowly crept forward.

Finally another little girl, who thought the EB was great , got tired of little miss pokey and grabbed Emmie's hand and took her up the EB. It was sooo cute and Emmie went slowly along with her. The little girl was so sweet.

She stood there with Emmie the whole time.
Emmie finally got brave enough to go up to the EB by herself.

Petting the EB...he was very soft.

Then she got brave enough to hold his hand!

FINALLY she was willing to sit in his lap. She even talked to him (very quietly) and told him she liked books (we had talked about things she might like the EB to bring her) and he told her he would bring LOTS of books!

When we got ready to leave she ran over to the EB and gave him a big hug and told him "bye, bye". I hope tomorrow she remembers how much she loves the bunny!

Tonight when we called Paul, the first thing Emmie told him was that she went to see the Easter Bunny! She was so excited!
