Happy Birthday Papa!

Yesterday was Paul's dad's birthday but Tuesday is our super crazy day so I was unable to get a video made so we're putting up Papa's birthday post a day late!

SNOW!

We came downstairs tonight and there was SNOW! There wasn't much snow but there is a little dusting on the top of our grill. When you live in Columbia this little bit of snow is quite exciting especially since it might be the only snow we get all winter.
I'm quite glad that I don't have to go anywhere tomorrow AND there's some apple cider in my fridge and Trader Joe's pumpkin pancake mix in my cabinet...yumm!

Please give it back God!

Emmie had chapel at school on Thursday and when she got in the car after school she told me that we can't hear God but he can hear us and we can talk to Him. We talked about this for a few minutes and then carried on with our day.
That afternoon the girls had been playing outside and left their shoes so I sent Emmie out to collect them. She had been out there for awhile and I went to check on her. As I got close to the door I could hear her talking quite loudly and when I opened the door she was saying "give it back! Please give it back!" And sounded quite distressed. Now normally I would have thought she was talking to Franklin but he was inside so I asked her who she was talking to and this was her answer: "I'm asking God to give back Ellie's shoe! I've looked all over and can't find it! (Looks up at the sky) Please God, give it back!!"
I was quite amused at this point so I went out looked around and spied Ellie's shoe across the yard. I pointed it out to Emmie and as I was going back in I heard her say (in a very relieved voice) "Thank you God. Ellie really needed that shoe!".

Now I wonder if this strategy will work on laundry day when I put 2 socks in the dryer and only get 1 back? Please God, give it back!

A Picnic kind of Day

Today when I picked Emmie up from school it was in the 70s and beautiful outside. The girls wanted to eat lunch outside and I had acquired an adorable little picnic basket from my grandmother's house that I knew the girls would love so when we got home Emmie got a blanket to spread outside and I packed the picnic basket and delivered it to her. She had the best time setting out everyone's food and then repacking the basket when we were done eating! Emmie is definitely my little party planner...pinterest will be her best friend!
I love making memories like this with my girls :)
