Football

Today Carolina played Wofford and we bravely took BOTH girls to the game with only one car (which means that if one child needs to leave early everyone has to leave early).  We stopped at got Chick-fil-A on the way and took it over to the Farmer's Market to eat. During the off season the old Farmer's Market parking area was redone and it is fabulous! There's a fenced in long mall like green space down the middle of the area and it's a great atmosphere. The team comes through about 2 hours before the game and the band comes through a little later. We didn't make it there in time to see the team but we did get to see the band! It's really neat. They march down the middle of the green space and then there's a little stage area where they stop and do some cheers. The girls LOVED it! Ellie was still really focused on her food but Emmie took a break from eating to go watch the band.

About 50min before game time we headed in and got settled in our seats. The girls enjoyed watching all the pregame stuff and they really loved the band and the team running out on the field. Ellie paid attention to the game more than Emmie did but they both did really well.

The game started at 1 and they usually go down for naps around 12:30 so I was a little nervous about how that would go. Well, Ellie conked out about half way through the 2nd quarter and slept until the 4th quarter and Emmie fell asleep after halftime and slept until almost the end of the game. They both went to sleep without any fussing and we enjoyed holding them...it was so cold outside and they definitely helped keep the person holding them warm!
This week was military appreciation week and the band's halftime performance was fabulous and I'm so glad that Emmie stayed awake to see it. At the end of the halftime show we had the flyover. I had talked to Emmie about the flyover and warned her they would be loud but I was still worried she would melt down because she was so tired. Fortunately she held it together and once she processed the whole experience she decided she liked the planes! This was one of the best flyovers I've seen...we had the perfect view of their approach from our seats...it was very cool!
We were able to stay the whole game but we had some very worn out girls when we left (but they were both happy since they'd had naps...yay!) but I think we were all able to enjoy the game and the girls did a great job!
